Jimi Hendrix was probably the best known rock guitarist of the 1960's.  Self taught he worked his way up playing in many R&B and soul acts in the early 1960's. Discovered by Chas Chandler of the rock group The Animals, he was taken to England and there started the Jimi Hendrix Experience.  He is considered to be the greatest guitarist in rock music history.
